• Chemical Peel

What to know before you go.

A chemical peel may be the answer you’ve been looking for to deal with troublesome skin.

What is a

Chemical Peel

A chemical peel may be the answer you’ve been looking for to deal with troublesome skin. In this quick, non-invasive, outpatient procedure, we place a special solution on your face. The solution contains natural acids, enzymes, and other powerful ingredients to dissolve the glue that holds together dead, dull skin cells. They can target one or more layers of skin, depending on the formula we use and your needs. These reasons make chemical peels a popular alternative to surgery or laser treatment. If you have a wedding, interview, or special occasion coming up, a chemical peel could make the difference.

Beautiful skin starts here.

Chemical peels work on almost all skin types and can help if you’ve struggled with fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots, and acne. However, there are some people who should be cautious. Persons with a history of keloids, or taking certain oral medications for acne, should not have chemical peels.

Pregnant women should also delay chemical peels.

After Care Instructions:

  • Wash your face with cool water. Warm or hot water might not feel as good as cool or cold water, which can help soothe post-peel sensations.

  • Please do not pick or pull your skin at any time after your peel, as it can cause scarring. Your skin will take about 4 to 7 days to completely peel depending on the strength of the peel or treatment you received.

  • Please do not exfoliate using a cleansing brush or any facial scrub or acid-based products for 2 weeks.

  • Do not use any products that contain AHA, Glycolic, Retin-A, or any acne medication until your skin has finished peeling (usually 7 days, but possibly longer).

  • Keep skin well hydrated by drinking at least three 8-ounce glasses of water per day, and moisturizing throughout the day with a good moisturizer both day and night. Reapply throughout the day as often as needed.

  • Refrain from waxing, tanning, or using sunbeds for 3 weeks.

  • Avoid working out and sweating for at least 24 hours and up to 48 hours.

  • If your skin becomes itchy at any time, you may use a 1% hydrocortisone cream (any brand).

  • use SPF 30 or higher consistently throughout the day. REAPPLY, for this will limit your skin from burning in the sun (even when it’s cloudy out or when sitting by a window) and will minimize the chances of more sun damage and discoloration.

No Peeling, No Problem

Lack of peeling is NOT an indication that the peel was unsuccessful

Although most people experience peeling of their facial skin, not all patient notices visible peeling after a Chemical Peel procedure. The lack of peeling is NOT an indication that the peel was unsuccessful.

If you do not notice actual peeling, please know that you are still receiving all the benefits of the peel, such as unclogging of pores, stimulation of collagen production, increased cell turnover, improvement of skin tone and texture, and diminishment of fine lines, wrinkles, and dark spots.
